About the speakers
Elana Kaminka is an Israeli-American peace activist based in Israel. She is a member of the secretariat of the “Tag Meir” organization, a volunteer with Humans Without Borders, and active in local coexistence initiatives with her Palestinian neighbors. Since the murder of her firstborn son Yannai (age 20) in the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th, 2023, Elana has become a voice for peace between Israelis and Palestinians on leading local and international media platforms, emphasizing the need to see humanity and nuance in the other, especially during this time of horrific grief.
Yacoub Al-Rabi is a Palestinian from Bidya, Salfit. He lost his wife, Aisha Al-Rabi, several years ago. Aisha was killed by a stone thrown by settlers at their car when they were driving with their young daughter during preparations for their elder daughter’s wedding. Yacoub has been an active member of the forum for several years, during which time he has been a facilitator of dialogue meetings and the community manager of the Forum members from the north of Palestine. His personal story of losing his beloved wife and his choice to talk about peace and reconciliation puts him in a very unique position.
