In the wake of the devastating attacks on Israel that left hundreds dead and thousands injured, it might seem unimaginable that amidst such tragedy, the Parents Circle staff organized a joint meeting between Palestinians and Israelis.

I had the privilege of attending this meeting, where something almost surreal unfolded. In a time of profound grief, “enemies” came together to offer comfort and support to one another. Witnessing the genuine efforts to truly listen, understand, and send love and support across deep divides was heartening. I will admit that there were also moments of tension and difficulty.

Since that initial meeting, more have taken place. Today, our Young Ambassadors for Peace, aged 17-24, will participate in their own joint meeting. Additionally, our bereaved members will host separate, yet equally important, uni-national meetings.

In these darkest of times, we find solace in our connections with the other side. These interactions serve as a powerful reminder that there is an alternative path. In the face of such immense tragedy, we are unwavering in our commitment to peace.
