Yesterday, the Israeli government blocked the entry permits for the 181 Palestinians invited to attend the 2019 Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Day Ceremony on May 7th.
This rash decision is a clear attack on the peace movement, and seeks only to deepen the divides that separate Israeli and Palestinian society– but we will not give up. Last year, Combatants for Peace and the Parents Circle – Families Forum successfully appealed the Israeli government’s decision to block permits for Palestinian attendees at the 2018 ceremony, and we will fight this decision again this year in the High Court of Justice in Jerusalem.
The 2019 Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Day Ceremony
On May 7, thousands of Israelis and Palestinians will gather in Tel Aviv to acknowledge the pain and the aspirations of those living on the “other side” and strive to prevent the next wave of violence.
We hope you can join us in New York, Washington, D.C., Boston, Asheville, Durham, NH, Santa Fe, Philadelphia, or Los Angeles on May 7th for this special memorial event rooted in the values of hope, empathy, and nonviolence.

The events in Santa Fe, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles are private; please email us to learn more and to RSVP.
