Parent Circle – Families Forum

Yesterday, bereaved Israeli and Palestinian members of the Parents Circle – Families Forum made a support visit to the al-Hallaq family. The family’s only son, Eyad al-Hallaq, was killed 3 years ago by a member of the Israeli army in the Old City of Jerusalem.
Several days ago, the Israeli court issued a decision to acquit the soldier who killed Eyad. The court’s argument was that he was defending himself. They made this decision knowing that Eyad was a young man with autism and did not pose any danger to the soldiers. He was simply on his way to the learning center where he studies.
Eyad’s mother spoke to us, saying that the racist decision by the court killed Eyad twice. All family members live in a difficult psychological situation after his killing, and especially after the court’s decision.
We, as members of the Parents Circle, continue to support this family, who joined the organization a year ago. We stand by them in all the difficult times they are going through.
