I am writing to you with some rare positive news: we did not give up on peace education—and we won!
Since the Israeli Ministry of Education removed the Parents Circle from high schools three years ago, we have gone through a lengthy appeals process in court. This week, the Israeli courts accepted the Parents Circle’s petition and ordered our Dialogue Meeting program to be reinstated in Israeli schools.
The Court ruled that addressing complex and controversial issues should be part of the role of the education system. The fact that Dialogue Meetings present both Israeli and Palestinian pain is not grounds for disqualifying it.
This is an important victory for everyone who believes in the right to education for peace, dialogue, and hope. Thank you for standing by our side in this fight. This win would not have been possible without the combination of local and international support.
We will continue educating with our heads held high, sharing our stories, and encouraging young people to believe that another path is possible—a path of recognition, hope, and the prevention of further bloodshed.
